As a plant and equipment engineer, you manufacture equipment, machines and plants according to plans. You manufacture the individual metal parts and assemble them into components and assemblies. If necessary, you will also commission the systems and maintain them. The EFZ training programme lasts four years.

Your apprenticeship at Villiger

At Villiger, you will build complex systems, underfloor systems and special components for the waste disposal industry. You will work with various metals, welding processes and manufacturing techniques – directly on products that are used in Switzerland and around the world.

Training scheme

  • 1st to 2nd year: Basic training in metalworking, welding, assembly and reading drawings
  • 3rd to 4th year: Specialised training in at least two areas, such as:
  • Welding and joining technology
  • System installation
  • Assembly production
  • Maintenance or prototype construction

Vocational school & inter-company training

1–2 days per week Instructions in:

  • Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science
  • Materials and manufacturing technology
  • Drawing techniques, mechanical engineering
  • Electrical and control engineering
  • Technical English
  • Process engineering (additional lessons)

Inter-company courses (ÜK) complement your practical skills

If you achieve good results at school: vocational baccalaureate possible

Your degree

After four years, you will graduate with a Federal Certificate of Competence (EFZ) as a plant and equipment engineer.
