Four successful days focused on modern waste management solutions
With a team of around 20 people from Germany and Switzerland, Villiger Entsorgungssysteme AG was once again represented at IFAT 2026, the world’s leading trade fair for water, recycling, and waste management in Munich. At Booth 105 in Hall A5 (the hall dedicated to waste collection and transport), we spent four days showcasing our latest solutions for modern waste management systems, as well as our solutions for recycling and logistics.
Waste disposal systems and live demonstrations of our Speed-Waste-Lifter
The focus was on our entire product range of underfloor, semi-underfloor, and above-floor systems, which visitors could view in person and, in some cases, even try out for themselves. In addition, we had two of our high-end cranes from the automotive engineering sector – the Speed-Waste-Lifter 105-9 and the Speed-Waste-Lifter 75-5 – on display right at our booth in Hall A5.
Visitors – including many environmental officers from cities and municipalities – were able to watch the emptying of our container solutions in action. With the help of our emptying assistant, some interested visitors also had the opportunity to try out the process for themselves.
Safety platform for semi-underfloor systems: The hidden champion at the Villiger booth
But as impressive as the live demonstrations of our cranes were, a particular focus of interest was on another innovation: our safety platform for semi-underfloor systems.

This newly developed solution, for which a patent has been filed, not only makes it possible to equip newly designed semi-underfloor systems in compliance with the DIN EN 13071 standard.
The safety platform also allows existing systems to be retrofitted quickly and easily—regardless of the manufacturer of the semi-underground system.
Villiger thus offers a forward-looking and highly flexible safety solution for cities, municipalities, and operators who wish to bring their existing semi-underground systems into compliance with DIN standards. Interest in this solution was correspondingly high throughout the trade fair.
Service, retrofitting, and system upgrades are also in high demand
In addition to our products and solutions, service and the retrofitting of existing systems were also key topics of discussion at IFAT 2026. This is because many cities and municipalities are currently facing the challenge of making their existing facilities more efficient, sustainable, and future-proof.
A key focus was on converting existing hook systems to Pilz systems. This change not only increases the level of automation but also boosts efficiency in daily operations. The reason: mushroom systems enable faster emptying processes. In this way, they reduce fuel consumption and thus directly contribute to lowering CO₂ emissions.
The topic of replacement procurement and system modernization was also in high demand at the trade fair. This is because Villiger offers its customers the option to specifically convert existing legacy systems from a wide variety of manufacturers into modern collection systems. And this can be done without extensive civil engineering work. Existing concrete elements can generally be reused. This saves costs, reduces construction efforts, and enables modernization and retrofitting even across manufacturer boundaries.
Awards, innovation, and insightful discussions at IFAT

In addition to purely technical matters, winning the first Prix SVC Aargau Solothurn 2026 was, of course, a much-discussed topic at the trade fair.
Villiger was awarded this prestigious prize for innovative SMEs in Switzerland just the week before IFAT during a ceremony in Safenwil.
We have already reported on this here in our news section: Villiger Entsorgungssysteme AG from Oberrüti wins the first Prix SVC Aargau Solothurn 2026
The award, which recognizes 25 years of passion and innovation in waste management, recycling, and logistics, gave many visitors an extra reason to talk with our team and learn more about our history, our growth, and our future.
A heartfelt thank you to our visitors, partners, and customers
We would like to take this opportunity to extend our heartfelt thanks to all visitors, partners, and customers for the inspiring conversations and the great interest shown in our solutions.
We are already looking forward to taking the next steps together toward smarter, safer, and more sustainable waste management systems.
